Cyanotypes with Plants and Silhouettes

In this workshop, we will gather plants and flowers from around the farm and arrange them on light-sensitive paper. Exposed to the sun, these compositions will slowly transform into deep blue prints — revealing delicate silhouettes and unexpected details.

Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic processes, both simple and magical. It invites a balance of intention and surprise, where each print holds traces of the plants, the light, and the moment in which it was made.

We will delve into composition, layering, and the distinct character of various plants. Participants will produce a small series of prints inspired by the season and the local landscape. A collection of animal silhouettes will be available for incorporation into their compositions, allowing for the creation of whimsical scenes.

Papers are prepared in advance using a traditional two-part cyanotype solution.
